Camila Sposati

The Project
The Brazilian artist Camila Sposati, supported by the British Council, undertook a residency from June to August 2009 within the Chemistry Department at Loughborough University - investigating important research into colour pigments. Dr Sandie Dann, Senior Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry offered to share her knowledge, time and facilities with Camila to further develop her work around crystal growth.
The Artist
Camila Sposati seeks new ways to involve art and science. A driving interest of hers is to extend her artistic practice by engaging with scientific processes, facilities and technologies in order to reveal and illuminate the social, political and cultural contexts that brought them into being. This interest culminates in the new artistic forms and perspectives that this engagement activates.
