Learn to be creative with clay in this mixed ability course, covering a range of techniques.

Evening classes

Whether you're a complete beginner or someone with previous ceramics experience you'll get to try out different techniques and use a range of tools in this pottery class.

Please note that this class is not open to under 16s.

When

Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30-9pm during term time (autumn and spring terms) and over the summer holidays (subject to tutor availability). The classes are run in eight week blocks and the next set of classes will run from w/c 22 January to w/c 11 March 2024. It is exactly the same content for both days. 

Where

Room 30, 3D Design Building, Loughborough University. This single storey building is located directly behind Edward Barnsley Building on the Loughborough College side of Epinal Way, opposite the main campus. 

Parking

There is parking in front of Edward Barnsley Building or close to 3D Design Building. Visitors are now required to register their vehicle and pay to park on campus, including outside Edward Barnsley and 3D Design. There is a flat evening rate of £1 after 6pm. There are various ways in which you can register and pay:

· Download the APCOA Connect App (location code 2862)

· Pre-book parking online

· Pay for parking online (on arrival)

· Pay by ScanPay on arrival (please note that ScanPay charges a booking fee)

· By phone: 01895 262122 (location code 2862)

· By cashless pay machines on campus. At present the closest pay machine is in Car Park 9, which is on the opposite side of Epinal Way to Cope Auditorium.

There is an additional 20p surcharge that applies to each payment using APCOA Connect / Scan Pay.

This includes the cost of materials. 

How to book

Following a priority booking period for our mailing list subscribers, both classes for the spring term have now sold out. Being on our mailing list is the best chance of securing a place at our evening classes.

Accessibility 

There is step free access into the building. If you have any specific access requirements or anything you would like us to be aware of when running the event, please let us know via the booking form or email LUArts@lboro.ac.uk in advance of booking and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Refunds and Cancellations

We will issue refunds for cancellations (minus Eventbrite fees) up to seven days prior to the first class, but no refunds will subsequently be issued unless a class is cancelled and cannot be re-arranged.

Dee Barnes is an experienced ceramicist, jeweller and tutor based in Grantham. After learning how to work with clay through the Adult Education Service in London in the 1980s, she's developed a distinctive practise centred on hand-building. She's since made jewellery for Grayson Perry exhibitions, run her own galleries, and continues to produce fine jewellery and ceramic pieces which are available directly through her website and via stockists across the country.
