Creative Writing Classes

Venue: MHL 0.07, Martin Hall

Time to get creative!

Our creative writing evening class is open to all, and runs in the first two terms of the academic year.  During the 10 week course, participants learn how to develop characters, utilize the senses, create dialogue that will develop character and so much more. Our experienced tutor will focus particularly on fiction and poetry, but is able to adjust course content to cover otherinterests.

“I loved the creative writing classes, particularly the variety of exercises and the balance between being encouraged to read work out and there not being any pressure to do so. Marianne was very encouraging and created a laid-back, inclusive atmosphere. The exercises she suggested helped me to think about my writing in different ways – the ‘crusty mustard’(!) exercise was especially useful in helping me to stop procrastinating and start writing something I could work with.” – Class Attendee (2018)

This broad and engaging class is suitable for beginners up to those with more experience in writing creatively.

Wednesday Evenings 7-9pm, during the first two terms of the academic year.
